To All STUDENTS:
For your safety, please follow the
rules and guidelines below for free sparring. Any student not conforming
completely to the sparring rules will not be allowed to spar.
Free sparring can be a
terrific learning experience and is required in your training in order to
progress to Black Belt. It is expected that maturity and control will be
used at all times while sparring or participating in other class
instruction.
- The
following protective gear is mandatory equipment for all students
participating at any time in free sparring:

Uniform (Dobahk) |
·
Padded sparring gloves |

·
Groin protection (males) |
·
Padded sparring boots |
|
·
Mouthpiece |
·
Headgear |
- The
following protective gear is optional (suggested) equipment for all
students participating at any time in free sparring:

Shin and forearm guards |
·
Body armor |
- The
following protective gear is optional (suggested) equipment for all
female students participating at any time in free sparring:

Groin protection (females) |
·
Padded female chest protection and/or body armor |
- All
contact will be light and controlled to all legal target areas.
- Legal
target areas are as follows:
·
The protective
headgear (no contact to the face or neck)
·
The front of the body
above the belt (no kicks below the belt)
·
The rib cage area (not
the back).
- No
jewelry or watches worn during sparring.
- If
your partner falls to the floor, stop free sparring and help them up.
- At no
time are students allowed to spar each other without an Instructor
present.
- At all
times during sparring, students will use control in their kicks and
punches to prevent any type of injury to themselves or their partners.
- The
person you are sparring is your partner, not your enemy. Treat them
accordingly. Relax and have fun!
